A memoir by Troy Milligan
Fifty Years on Stage and the Mindset Behind the Magic
The secret was never the trick.

What the book argues
“Your subconscious mind has been keeping accurate records your entire life. It knows what is real and what is wishful thinking.”
“You are arguing with a filing cabinet. The filing cabinet always wins. Rehearsal works because it doesn't argue. It adds a new file.”
“Be it now. Feel it now. Not on the way to somewhere — here, in the actual day you're standing in.”

The 7-Day Pause
Seven days, one piece at a time. About ten minutes a day. At the end of it you own a practice you assembled yourself, and it is yours to keep whether or not you ever hear from me again.
It sells for $97. The code in the back of the book takes it to a dollar.
Said about the book
“Troy Milligan doesn't write about adversity from a distance; he's lived it. Despite devastating setbacks, he keeps moving forward with a determination to make others smile. In The Mindset Magician, he draws on a lifetime of hard-earned experience to show why positive thinking alone isn't enough and how we can stop hiding who we are and start living authentically.”
“For over 35 years, I've known Troy Milligan as a friend and his attorney. I've watched him face extraordinary adversity — arduous litigation after his trade show business was stolen, and retirement funds wiped out by a Ponzi scheme just before COVID-19 — all with remarkable grace and composure, never anger.”
“One thing I've admired about Troy Milligan for over 40 years is that he simply never gives up. No matter what life throws his way, he keeps trying, exploring new possibilities, and finding a way forward. Giving up just isn't in his nature.”

Who's behind it
Fifty years on stage, sixty-three years doing magic. He grew up in Wilmington, Delaware, practicing card tricks in a refrigerator box, left a drafting job to join a carnival, built a booking business in Sacramento, and performed in Okinawa. He lost his retirement to a Ponzi scheme and kept going. The Mindset Magician is his second book.
